Job Description
Position/Title: General Manager/Grant Writer
Position Type: Exempt/Full-time, 40 hours/week
Reports To: The La Pine Community Kitchen Board of Directors (BOD)
La Pine Community Kitchen is a nonprofit charitable organization established for the purpose of providing the necessities of life — food and clothing — at no cost to those who desire or need them regardless of race, creed, gender, or financial need. Our mission is to feed and clothe people with dignity and respect in a safe and welcoming environment.
Seeking a candidate for a combined full-time position as a General Manager & Grant Writer.

General Manager General Purpose:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of La Pine Community Kitchen’s Hot Meal Program, Food Pantry Program, & Clothing Closet.
- The General Manager will supervise and work closely with the Kitchen Manager, Food Pantry Manager, Clothing Closet Manager, Truck Drivers, Easter Seals supported staff, and Grant Writer to ensure community needs are met to serve those in need with kindness and compassion.
- To foster and maintain positive relationships between La Pine Community Kitchen and the community of La Pine.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees day-to-day operations of La Pine Community Kitchen and understands what is needed to be done in the absence of the area Managers/Leads in all positions.
- This position directly supervises up to ten (10) regular part-time employees daily and assists with their management of all volunteers at the request of the Managers/Leads who are their direct supervisors.
- Coordinates and provides required training for staff and volunteers as needed.
- Encourages employees and volunteers to attend Board of Directors’ meetings so they may contribute to the BOD discussions.
- Provides dedicated annual performance reviews of all supervised staff.
- Supports La Pine Community Kitchen’s Board of Directors as requested by BOD.
- Supports Grant Writer with budget & other statistics as required by grantors. Reviews all requests prior to submission.
- Answers all emails, phone calls, and messages promptly.
- Maintains accurate employee, safety, incident & financial records.
- Reviews and approves timecards prior to sending for final time and tax preparation and writes pay checks for distribution.
- Make all deposits, recording them promptly in Intuit Quick Books to appropriate GL numbers.
- Pays all bills within the appropriate time frame required by individual companies.
- Records all accounts payable & accounts receivable in Intuit Quick Books, assigning appropriate GL numbers.
- Maintain accurate records of all donations, food lbs., and volunteer hours for reporting.
- Sends IRS donation receipts and thank you letters to donors.
- Supports La Pine Community Kitchen’s BOD and Grant Writer with marketing and networking for the organization.

Grant Writer General Purpose:
A Grant Writer’s responsibilities include researching grant opportunities and writing compelling grant proposals to
acquire funding. Working closely with La Pine Community Kitchens’ General Manager (GM) and Board of Directors (BOD) to understand the organization’s financial needs so as to ensure adequate funding is attained each year.

Responsibilities:
- Assists with the Growth Committee strategy.
- Identifies grant funding opportunities.
- Writes, submits, and manages grant proposals.
- Furnishes prospective fundholders with supporting documents, as requested.
- Attends available networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with GM to compile annual reports required by fundholders.
- Serves as point person in the GM’s absence.
- Attends monthly board meetings and submits reports on funding activities.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- Nonprofit experience in operational supervision and/or program management.
- Organizational and writing skills.
- Knowledge of nonprofit origination.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Knowledge and experience with computer software, and ability to adapt to new software. Experience with
“Quick Books” is a plus. - Experience working with a diverse group of clients and the ability to interact with clients respectfully and
empathetically. - Strong positive and professional communication, customer service, and leadership skills to interact and
communicate with staff, volunteers, and community members. - Dependable and reliable attendance.
- Requires walking, sitting, typing, viewing a computer screen, standing, and some lifting.
