Job Description  
Position/Title: Driver 
Position Type: Non-Exempt/Part-time, up to 25 hours/week  
Reports To: The La Pine Community Kitchen Logistics Manager 

La Pine Community Kitchen is a nonprofit charitable organization established for the purpose of providing the  necessities of life — food and clothing — at no cost to those who desire or need them regardless of race, creed, gender,  or financial need. Our mission is to feed and clothe people with dignity and respect in a safe and welcoming  environment.  

 

Driver General Purpose:

Responsible for picking up and transporting large donations and orders of food and supplies from
various vendors. Bringing them to the food pantry and assisting in unloading. The Driver will work
closely with the Logistics Manager, Food Pantry Manager, and Kitchen Manager to ensure the
community needs are met to serve those in need with kindness and compassion.

Responsibilities:

    • Working with the logistics manager to coordinate a pickup plan that includes driving to and
      picking up food from multiple locations
    • Drive vehicles and pick-up daily food and transport to the La Pine Community Kitchen
      Assisting with unloading as needed
    • Operate a pallet jack to move pallets of food on and off transportation vehicle
    • Stock trucks with totes and other pick-up/drop off containers as needed
    • Position all tie downs & other items needed to secure cargo for transport
    • Implement best practices of food at pick up and drop off to ensure food safety
    • Records vendors, items, food temperatures, & weights
    • Clean and inspect all equipment on vehicle for load & unload
  • Maintain trucking logs and vehicle maintenance inspections logs

Job Qualifications:

  • Clean driving record and insurable by LPCK insurance carrier. valid Oregon divers license and
    valid Oregon food handlers’ card
  • Ability to safely operate/drive large vehicles including cargo and box vans
  • Easily read and follow route maps
  • Experience working with a diverse group of clients and the ability to respectfully and
    empathetically interact with clients
  • Strong professional communication, customer service skills to interact with and communicate
    with staff, volunteers, vendors, clients, and community members
  • Requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, and lifting boxes up to 50lbs
