Closet Manager General Purpose:
Oversee the daily operations of La Pine Community Kitchen’s Clothing Closet Program, ensuring a well‑organized, welcoming, and trauma‑informed environment for all who visit. The Clothing Closet Manager works closely with volunteers to guide daily tasks, coordinate donation intake and distribution, and uphold LPCK’s commitment to serving every patron with dignity, compassion, and respect. This role ensures that individuals and families can reliably access seasonal clothing, outerwear, shoes, and hygiene items in a safe and supportive setting.

As a core part of LPCK’s mission, the Clothing Closet serves South Deschutes, North Klamath, and West Lake Counties by providing essential resources at no cost. The Manager also helps keep LPCK connected to the community by engaging in local meetings, outreach efforts, and collaborative initiativesensuring the program remains responsive to evolving needs and continues to close service gaps throughout La Pine.

Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the Clothing Closet promptly on designated service days (currently Tuesdays and Fridays), ensuring all doors, gates, and windows are secured.
  • Lead and support volunteers, assigning daily tasks such as sorting, sizing, cleaning, and preparing displays.
  • Record patron visits and maintain accurate logs for reporting and compliance; prepare a quarterly report for the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure seasonal and weather‑appropriate clothing is available, organized, and displayed in a way that promotes dignity and choice.
  • Introduce patrons to available hygiene products and assist them in accessing needed items.
  • Train volunteers in respectful, trauma‑informed service, including guided introductions to the space, usage guidelines, and current inventory.
  • Coordinate with the General Manager to assess inventory needs, manage donations, and plan for seasonal shifts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that reflects LPCK’s values of dignity, respect, and hospitality.
  • Engage with the community, including:
  • Participating in local community meetings when appropriate
  • Listening to emerging needs shared by partners, guests, and outreach teams
  • Supporting LPCK’s presence at community events and outreach activities
  • Helping identify service gaps and opportunities for collaboration
  • Represent LPCK with professionalism and empathy, strengthening trust with guests, donors, volunteers, and community partners.

Desired Job Qualifications:

  • Experience in program coordination, retail inventory management, or a nonprofit/social services environment.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and support volunteers with clarity and compassion.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain orderly systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a respectful, empathetic approach to diverse populations.
  • Dependable, consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Requires walking, standing, light lifting, and some typing/viewing of a computer screen.
